Two sets. Two racks. Two hands each. Royal is American mah jongg turned all the way up — and it is so much fun.

In this two-hour crash course, Cindy and Sandra will teach you Royale Siamese, the four-player game invented by Gladys Grad where every player builds two mah jongg hands at the same time. There's no Charleston and no wall to break, so you're in the game from the very first tile — and with two full sets on the table, you're playing with combinations you've never had access to before.

You'll learn:

• Setup and the deal — how Royal differs from your standard game
• Running two hands at once, and moving tiles between your racks
• Picking two hands that support each other instead of competing for the same tiles
• Using real tiles instead of jokers, and the joker rules specific to Royal
• The Atomic Hand — what it is, and when it's worth declaring
• Scoring, including the bonus for finishing both hands

Then you'll play. Book a single spot or reserve a whole table of four.

Best for players already comfortable with American mah jongg. This isn't a beginner class.
